President's Message

2008/2009

As NASBITE International’s 21st President since our founding in 1989, I would first like to thank all my predecessors for getting us this far, and our many members for their loyalty and their extraordinary intellectual contributions over the years.

My goal for my one-year as your President is to “build, build, build” NASBITE as an organization – the membership itself, the member benefits we offer, and most of all your involvement in the building process. NASBITE is essentially governed by a 25-member Board that meets twice a year and a 10-member Executive Committee that confers monthly by phone. I’m convinced that more of you have opinions and recommendations that need to be heard, and that you will volunteer to serve if given the opportunity, such as on focus groups and committees. We could use your help on strategic planning, member benefits, marketing, the Web site and List Serv, the Conferences, and more.

We want NASBITE to be a year-round experience for you, not just an occasion to meet once a year at our annual conference, as enjoyable as that is. With our new ListServ capability, we’ll now be able to keep you posted on what we’re doing, pass along useful information, and ask for your suggestions and involvement. The ListServ is also your opportunity to communicate with us and your fellow members.
