For the past twenty years Chris Schrage has been traveling to various countries working with everyone from executives to groups at the bottom of the economic pyramid. Her work in a wide range of professional as well as educational or economic situations has provided a different view of what it takes to be globally competent. As Global Opportunities Coordinator at the University of Northern Iowa College of Business Administration, she has been developing international programs and exposing students to the world. Her persistence brought about a new university course, now a requirement of the Global Marketing Emphasis major built on the criteria for the Certified Global Business Professional. The Global Trade Practices class utilizes projects with students at universities in other countries to develop more than practical trade knowledge with online discussions crossing cultural and economic challenges. Currently, Chris spends about 1/3 of her time outside the United States with students and carrying out projects.
