Exam Qualifications

  • The CGBP is designed to meet the needs of individuals working in the profession or studying for a career related to global commerce. Candidates from both small and large companies will benefit as will students in two- or four-year degree programs. The credential is also suitable for individuals working in trade assistance organizations, trade promotion agencies, and related educational institutions.
  • In order to sit for the CGBP exam, the candidate must have completed either two years of college-level study (in any field), or have worked in the field of global commerce for two or more years.
  • When registering for the exam you will be asked to submit qualification documents to verify your college and/or work experience. Documents must be submitted prior to taking the exam. Examples of qualification documents are resumes, transcripts, etc.

Live Online Proctoring (LOP)

The CGBP Exam is delivered via Live Online Proctoring (LOP). This exam will be taken at your home or office on your own personal computer. Please review the technical requirements listed below.

Exam Environment - By taking this exam, you are attesting that you understand that your examination session, including video, is recorded and may be saved for up to one year. The recordings will be deleted no later than one year after the exam date. By agreeing to take this exam, you agree to have your examination session recorded and reviewed by the testing agency and testing program owners.

  • A room scan will be required before the exam can begin so, please be sure that your webcam can be rotated to view the entire room and workspace.
  • One (1) sheet of blank scratch paper may be used during the exam. The proctor may ask to inspect the scratch paper prior to the exam beginning and you will need to destroy the scratch paper after the exam is complete.
  • You are permitted only 1 restroom break during the exam. The exam timer will continue to run during the break and any time spent on the break will not be added back in to the exam.

Identification Required - You are required to present a valid, government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver's license, passport, state-issued ID card) on exam day; please ensure that your first and last name on the valid, government-issued photo ID EXACTLY match your first and last name as they appear on the scheduling screens.

Computer System Minimum Requirements - You are required to have a webcam installed on your exam workstation and reliable access to the Internet. An internet connection disruption will suspend the test session. You will also need:

  • A well-working computer with 1 GB of RAM or higher
  • A high-speed Internet connection of 2 MBPS upload and 2 MBPS download. Wireless is acceptable; however, a wired-connection is preferred.
  • A webcam with 640×480 video pixel resolution (a laptop camera is acceptable).
  • Working speakers connected to the computer.
  • A microphone connected to the computer (consider a webcam with a built-in microphone).
  • Browser compatibility: IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari You must use a computer with admin access.
  • You must download GoToMeeting in advance by clicking here.

Testing Your System - In order to minimize any disruptions that you may experience during your exam, it is recommended that you test your system prior to taking your exam.

Exam Registration

Registering Online - When registering online for your exam, be sure to select the correct exam fee. If you are unsure about your past exam status, please contact NASBITE Headquarters.

Exam Scheduling - You will receive an email from Scantron a week prior to the start of the exam window with instructions about the exam process and how to schedule your exam. 

Exam Rescheduling - If you wish to transfer your exam to a different testing window, you may do so two (2) weeks prior to the start of the exam window without incurring a fee. If you do not reschedule at least two (2) weeks prior to the start of the exam window, you will incur a $100 transfer fee.
