Kathleen A. DeMarco, CAE
Title: Executive Director
Kathleen A. (Kathy) DeMarco, CAE serves as the Executive Director NASBITE International. She has worked in association management for over 25 years, encompassing advancing roles in project and program management, strategic planning and implementation, membership development and retention, budgeting and financial management, meeting and event logistics, and communications.
DeMarco holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications/Journalism and Public Relations from Temple University, and is a Certified Association Executive. Kathy also completed the Certificate Program in Association Management through ASAE University, and the Certificate in Industrial Distribution Program through Indiana University/Purdue University-Indianapolis. She is an active Member of ASAE-The Center for Association Leadership (ASAE) and the Pennsylvania Chapter of ASAE (PASAE). She has also served in leadership roles for the Association Education Alliance (AEA), the University of Industrial Distribution (UID) Steering Committee, and the Delaware Valley Society of Association Executives (DVSAE).
Fred Stringfellow, CAE
Title: Management Liaison
Fred Stringfellow started his career in association management almost 20 years ago. In 2000, Stringfellow co-founded KSG; in 2012 Stringfellow created Stringfellow Management Group, as a successor organization to KSG. Stringfellow currently serves as Management Liaison for NASBITE International. Stringfellow was awarded ASAE’s Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation in 1998, and has been recertified every three years since that time. He currently serves on the AMC Key Committee and is a past chair of the AMC Section Council for the American Society of Association Executives.
Stringfellow is a graduate of the Institute for Organization Management at the University of Delaware; is a past president of the Maryland Society of Association Executives; is a past president of the Stoneleigh Community Association; and is a past chair of the Association Management Section Council for the American Society of Association Executives. He currently serves as Chairman-Elect on the Board of Directors for the AMC Institute; serves on the Board of Directors for the Tennis Industry Association; and serves on the Customer Advisory Board for Visit Baltimore.
Diane Schafer, CMP
Title: Director of Meetings
Diane Schafer, CMP is Director of Meetings for NASBITE International. She is responsible for all aspects of planning association meetings and conventions and member services.
Schafer is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) as awarded by the Convention Industry Council (CIC) and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, PA. Throughout her over twenty years in the industry she has planned successful events in both domestic and international locales for clients across various disciplines through professional foresight and attention to detail. Schafer is a member of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA), the Baltimore Alumnae Chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma, and has served on the Board of Directors for the PCMA Chesapeake Chapter.
Amy Chetelat, CAE
Title: Director of Finance
Amy Chetelat, CAE is experienced in both corporate accounting and association management, and is responsible for SMG’s accounting and financial management, as well as the financial management of thirteen trade and professional associations. In her role as SMG’s Director of Finance, Chetelat is responsible for all areas of accounting and financial management as well as information technology and building operations. Chetelat is supported by an accounting manager and administrative staff in SMG’s Financial Department.
Chetelat holds a Masters of Business Administration and earned her Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation from the American Society of Association Executives in 2003, and was recertified in 2005, 2008, and 2011. She is an active member of ASAE and a former member of the Finance Section Committee. She is a past president of the Maryland Society of Association Executives. Before becoming President of MSAE she spent several years serving as their treasurer. She is an active member of the Institute for Managerial Accountants, the Chesapeake Professional Women’s Network and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Title: Member Services & Certification Coordinator
Lisa Christie currently serves as NASBITE International’s Membership Services & Certification Coordinator.
Title: Accounting Manager
Pam DiCara, Accounting Manager in SMG’s Financial Management Team, works with Director of Finance Amy Chetelat in performing the daily accounting operations and financial activities for SMG and its client associations.
Pam earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from The University of Baltimore. She has over 25 years of experience in public, small business and non-profit accounting. This includes auditing, computer software/hardware support, and acting as financial controller for various companies. She served as co-chair, president, and treasurer for the non-profit group CMW Project Graduation.
Title: Director of Social Media
Laura Izzo serves as Director of Membership and Social Media for SMG. Izzo oversees membership and communications services for each of SMG’s client associations. Izzo works with the executive directors and meetings team for each association to develop and execute communications and marketing strategies that include traditional media and social media platforms. Izzo works with staff and volunteer leaders on virtual training activities and committee outreach efforts.
In 2009 Izzo completed her B.A. in English, Magna Cum Laude, from Notre Dame of Maryland University.
