Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in emerging markets face persistent barriers to internationalization due to resource constraints, regulatory complexity, execution risk, and intense global competition. While artificial intelligence (AI) is widely recognized for enhancing strategic decision-making, its role in facilitating reliable export execution remains underexplored. This study synthesizes recent quantitative, qualitative, and conceptual research to assess the impact of AI integration on the export and market-entry performance of SMEs. While prior research has established that AI can enhance decision-making, productivity, and innovation, these benefits have often been examined in isolation from the operational and institutional conditions that shape cross-border trade. As a result, existing studies provide limited guidance on how AI-driven insights can be converted into compliant, executable, and financially viable export activities.
