CGBP Credential

Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP)

NASBITE International’s Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP) credential is widely recognized as the standard of excellence in expertise and professionalism in international trade. This certification is based upon the CGBP Practice Delineation, which communicates to employers and the public that the individual has the global business expertise and professionalism required to succeed in today’s competitive environment. Today, more than 2,000 global business professionals have earned the CGBP designation.

The Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP) credential certifies that a candidate is competent in the following four primary domains:

  1. Global Business Management
  2. Global Marketing
  3. Supply Chain Management
  4. Trade Finance

NASBITE International began the development of the CGBP in the early 2000s in an effort spearheaded by Jim Foley from Bradley University. NASBITE International contracted with Professional Examination Service (PES) in New York to help create the body of knowledge and the test protocol. The credential was developed In cooperation with numerous practitioners,  federal and state government partners, corporate partners, and the Centers for International Business, Education, and Research (CIBERs). The first credentialing exam was given on March 20, 2005.

NASBITE International CGBP certification holders may use the credential logo and wordmark on resumes and business cards to signify to employers and the public their proficiency in global commerce. For companies, the credential establishes a professional development goal for current and future employees. The credential also helps individuals diversify their skills in global commerce and assure they understand a broad range of topics rather than just the specific field within international trade that they have experienced.

There is not any required course or program required to sit for the CGBP examination.

  • The CGBP is designed to meet the needs of individuals working in the profession or studying for a career related to international trade. Candidates from both small and large companies will benefit, as will students in two or four year degree programs. The credential is also suitable for individuals working in trade assistance organizations, trade promotion agencies, and related educational institutions.
  • In order to sit for the CGBP exam, it is recommended that the candidate have completed either: 1) Two years of college-level study (in any field), or 2) Two or more years experience in the field of international trade.
